Teaching Method
My teaching covers both traditional music notation and guitar tablature, alongside music theory, chords, and scales, all taught through a clear, structured, and progressive programme. Students can also work towards graded guitar exams, and many of my pupils have achieved outstanding results — including distinctions at Grade 8.

In addition to technique and theory, lessons focus on lead guitar, rhythm playing, riffs, and learning songs in a variety of styles. I also offer access to recording facilities, allowing students to record their own instrumental tracks or play along with high-quality professional backing tracks.
Lesson Format
Guitar lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis, giving students the benefit of focused, individual attention. This allows me to identify strengths and areas for improvement quickly and to adjust the lesson content accordingly. Students progress at their own pace without feeling rushed or held back, and lessons can be shaped around the music they enjoy — from rock, blues, pop, metal, classical etc.
This personalised approach helps keep students motivated while developing strong technique, theory, and musicianship.
Lesson Duration
Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, allowing students to choose the length that best suits their age, experience level, and learning goals. Shorter lessons are ideal for younger beginners or those new to the instrument, while longer sessions provide more time to develop technique, explore new material, work on songs, and build confidence. This flexible approach ensures that each student gets the most out of every lesson.
Lesson Location
Lessons take place in my fully equipped home studio in East Kilbride, providing a comfortable, focused, and supportive learning environment. Parents are welcome to stay and observe during lessons if they wish.
